According to the statistics of Census 2011, presently Indian cities accommodate around one third of its population and contribute 63% of GDP. However, by 2030 urban centres will be providing housing for 40% of the population and contribute to 75% of the country’s GDP. To fulfil this huge requirement, Smart Cities can be regarded as the most feasible solution. Developed and efficiently managed by the Government of India, these new-age cities are touted as the India’s answer to the need for organised infrastructure.
