Across the world, developed countries have faced the challenge to manage its resources to deal with the increasing pressure on urban centres. However, Government of India has taken a well-informed decision under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to build 100 Smart Cities. This concept is slated to bring great relief to a substantial percentage of the population, as in a Smart City; information and communication technology is used to manage city’s resources. These cities, by 
implementing resource mobilisation, optimising energy supplies and bringing an efficient public transportation system will catapult India among the most developed economies.
